William C. Ross started ROSS in 1987 after a long career in technical sales in the personal care and detergent industries. Mr. Ross earned his BS in Chemistry at Bloomsburg University (PA) and took his first job with Rohm & Haas as a bench chemist. After a short time, Mr. Ross realized he preferred his time "out on the road" when he would assist the sales staff with technical presentations. His career as a technical sales representative lasted 25 years and spanned several companies - most notably at GAF (now ISP) and with Croda USA as national sales manager. After working for several companies, Mr. Ross realized he wanted to be his own boss and do things his own way. He felt there was a need for a technically based sales agency on the west coast.

During the "start-up" days Mr. Ross was more than just his own boss- he was his own accountant, customer service and sales representative.  In the early days, Susan T. Nicholls and Marilyn E. Acton consulted with Mr. Ross as sales representatives for the company and helped grow the business to where it is today. Both are heavily involved in the ongoing management of the business - Ms. Nicholls is currently acting as Senior Vice President, Operations and Ms. Acton is the Managing Director of BioOrganic Concepts, a ROSS company. As ROSS grew, it was obvious that the sales and customer service functions of the business needed to move to the Los Angeles area, closer to the majority of customers. In 1997 the sales offices were moved to Signal Hill, CA and in 2004, the distribution center was moved to a 15,000 sq. ft. facility Sylmar, CA. In March of 2008, the entire operation moved into a 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Santa Fe Springs, CA.

William Ross is a man who has great visions and great hopes for his company- his employees and his customers. His dedication and devotion to his business is both impressive and inspiring. Both of his daughters, Stephanie Ross Leshney, Vice President, Sales & Marketing and Erin Coulter, Business Manager, work for the business and share his passion and vision for the future.
